Audience:
This course is designed for business and technical experts that want to learn the basics of structured analysis and the importance of process modeling when discovering and documenting system requirements.

Description:
This course presents the basics of Business Analysis. The course covers the creation of a current system implementation model and its transformation into a system essential model (requirements specification). Current system implementation models are used to take a system and break it down into its subsystems based on business or project need. Each subsystem can then be broken down into greater levels of detail to document business requirements.
The Business Analysis Body of Knowledge covers two process modeling tools - Data Flow Diagrams and Swim-lane models (BPMN) so both are covered in this class, Hands-on workshops using a JAD format are used to reinforce concepts.
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:
· Define the five techniques that are the basis of structured theory.
· Define a planned response system.
· Identify the essential events, essential activities and essential data that constitute a business system.
· Define a system architecture using a hierarchical, top-down approach to modeling.
· Understand the concept of data modeling as an adjunct to process modeling.
· Transform the current System Implementation Model into the System Essential Model.
· Compare different modeling tools such as BPMN (swim-lanes) or Data Flow Diagrams.
· Prepare Use Case documentation for system processes.
